A simple way to make nice collages is to use the magnetic lasso to capture an image. Then open a document and put it on a new layer. Lasso another image from another picture, and put it on it's own layer. Resize the images so they are in proportion to one another, and you have a collage.

Ok, now either that was stuff you already knew, and you're thinking, Duh, or you're saying, Huh? because I skipped too many steps. :P So I suppose either way it wasn't helpful... feel free to email me if you want more detail.
