Oh, Lorraine, I can so relate! My VHS player has been problematic for over a year. (Refused to eject tapes on its own, stopped rewinding unless you held down the button, etc.) I wanted to replace it, but then you have to buy a combo DVD/VHS player now. And there's nothing wrong with my DVD player. This past week, the VHS started sending spurious signals to my cable box. I figure that must have been the problem because once I took it out of the loop, the cable box started behaving again. Only I also discovered that my handyman friend had plugged the cable box directly into the outlet (which is behind massive entertainment center that I couldn't move if my life depended on it) and not into the strip (which I can reach). So I was trying to figure out how I'd plug the cable box into the strip (assuming I could somehow position the step stool, move the TV, and lean way down inside the cabinet to reach that outlet) with an extension cord. Can I borrow your husband's cane?
