Sounds like poor Fred isn't feeling well and maybe that's why he's up all night.
I don't speak 'cat', since I get all wheezy if I spend too much time with them, but I do sympathize with you.

There's not much you can do for a cat with OCD except drug them (ith Phenobarbital, yet), and that only made Fred worse. The only thing that calms him down is to be petted BY ME for about five minutes. Then he's ready to go back to sleep ... for an hour, or until he hears another cat roaming around, then he has to go investigate. Meanwhile, I'm awake and can't get back to sleep!

I do love him, or else he wouldn't still be with us six years later.
